Position Summary
A Driver is responsible for transporting residents (individuals or groups) to and from scheduled appointments, activities and other functions or locations. The Driver may
transport visitors and employees for special occasions, as designated. The position requires a Class B or C certified driver’s license (CDL) and may drive all types of company vehicles. The Driver is expected to maintain their CDL, operate more sophisticated vehicles and always adhere to road and safety rules. Assists with maintaining
vehicles and equipment in accordance with established policies, procedures, and as directed by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Transports residents, or groups of residents, to and from appointments, life enrichment activities, meal service and other locations on or off the community
grounds, as necessary. - Assists all residents with getting in and out of the vehicles and with any additional items or equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, medical records or other
paperwork, grocery bags and/or personal items. May escort residents into or out of the location and/or may wait for residents during the visit or appointment,
when appropriate. - Accommodates the pick-up and drop-off of community vehicles to and from service appointments.
- Maintains cleanliness and proper service for each vehicle (fuel, lubricants, etc.); immediately reports wear and tear or damage to the supervisor.
Requirements Physical requirements for the completion of job duties may include:
- Meet the Department of Transportation’s physical requirements for a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Move adequately throughout the workspace and facilities as required to perform job duties.
- Ability to see and hear within established parameters.
- Physical labor that requires bending, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying objects.
- Physical stamina to lift, push, pull, carry, or move a light to heavy objects as required to perform job duties
- When lifting, employees must follow standard safety/ergonomic precautions and any applicable policies and/or procedures and secure assistance or use approved and available lifting device or equipment, when necessary.
