Job Summary:

Prepares and oversees annual operational and expenditure budgets; prepares required reports, and supervises assigned staff.

Job Duties:

Prepares and modifies annual operational budgets.  Monitors and analyzes departmental expenditures and payroll by maintaining records and ensuring expenditures are within budget guidelines.  Oversees preparation of required reports and submits reports as required.  Reviews and approves purchase requisitions and check requests making sure proper expenditure classifications have been used.  Makes periodic reviews of monetary and other financial functions to verify compliance with applicable rules, regulations or guidelines.  Coordinates annual internal reviews and audits by the Department of Labor.  Makes sure that daily expenditures are taken care of in a timely manner.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises two to four employees in the financial area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Human Resources or other business related field.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

At least 2 (two) years experience in a related field.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should have knowledge of Accounting, Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to operate standard office equipment.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

 

Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
