Position Purpose
The Benefits and Compensation Administrator is responsible for developing, managing, and administering equitable, competitive, and compliant total rewards programs that attract and retain talent. This position supports the organization’s compensation and benefits strategies by conducting market analyses, managing employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing excellent service and communication to employees and leadership.
Essential Duties
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, leave, and wellness plans.
- Manage benefits enrollment, renewals, and changes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Coordinate the annual open enrollment process and employee education sessions.
- Maintain accurate employee benefits records and ensure payroll deductions are processed correctly.
- Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefit questions, eligibility, coverage, and claims.
- Partner with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and ensure efficient plan administration.
- Administer employee leave programs, workers' compensation claims, and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, and state/local leave requirements.
- Research and analyze benefits options, utilization, and costs to recommend enhancements or cost-saving measures.
- Monitor benefit program budgets and assist with forecasting and reporting.
- Prepare and maintain plan documentation and communication materials with legal and vendor partners.
- Coordinate and track employee leave programs and ensure accurate communication of eligibility and process.
- Stay informed of trends and best practices in compensation and benefits to support continuous improvement.
Compensation Administration
- Develop and administer compensation programs, including salary structures, pay scales, and bonus plans.
- Conduct job evaluations and market benchmarking to determine appropriate pay levels and classifications.
- Perform regular market analyses and salary surveys to ensure competitiveness within the industry.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local compensation regulations.
- Analyze internal compensation data to identify trends, pay equity concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and present compensation reports and recommendations to leadership.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and management teams on compensation-related policies, adjustments, and program development.
- Maintain accurate compensation data, job descriptions, and classification documentation.
- Audit payroll and compensation processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Advise HR and management on compensation for best practices and policy interpretation.

- Effective communication skills are necessary for collaborating with HR teams, management, and employees regarding compensation and benefits policies and practices.
- Strong analytical skills are essential for conducting market research, analyzing compensation and benefits data, and making informed recommendations.
- Compensation and benefits administrators must have a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in data, compliance with regulations, and effective problem-solving.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality around sensitive information and matters at all times
- Possesses sound attributes for excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to gain respect and lead in team environments
- excellent time and self-management skills with an ability to prioritize and handle conflicting priorities while staying focused and meeting deadlines

- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, iPhone functions, outlook calendar and teams meeting environment
- Project Management skills beneficial
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Flexibility and agility are important to pivot quickly when the need arises
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is typically required, along with a minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in compensation and/or benefits administration.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) are beneficial.
Driving Category - Requirements
Driving Category B:
Employees who may drive RMHS or personal vehicles for business purposes. Category B employees may transport other employees but will not transport RMHS clients.
- Valid driver’s license
- Proof of motor vehicle insurance
- Personal vehicle in good operating condition for use during work, including transporting individuals
- No major violations in the past three years.
- No more than two moving violations in the past three years
- Ability to meet and maintain agency driving requirements and operate agency vehicles
- Drivers must upload proof of ongoing auto insurance every 6 months into Paycom/Relias.
