Main purpose of the Assistant Product Developer role:

The Assistant Product Developer for the Active segment will utilize his or her organizational skills to maintain product specifications, communicate with vendors, and support the team in the concept through production process.  This position will support various aspects of the Design/Development process through close partnerships and consistent communication to ensure the development process runs efficiently.  This is a permanent full time role for a candidate who comprehends deadlines and has strong organization skills that will thrive in a fast-paced work environment.


Major Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    Contribute to and support the product development process from concept through TOP

    Create and maintain up to date TP's and BOM's

    Maintain and create Illustrator tech sketches

    Assist In TP hand-off and wash development as needed

    Communicate with manufacturers to ensure product specifications as needed

    Organize and maintain wash, fit standard, fabric and trim libraries

    Update design boards/decks as directed by management

    Review fitting updates/changes with Product Development Leads which includes updating sketches/TP’s as needed and in a timely manner

    Update and maintain WIPs as needed

    Assist the team in preparing for quarterly PD hand offs and proto reviews

    Assist with trim development which can include helping create layouts for special trim developments

    Support with console data accuracy which includes maintaining accurateness across all platforms

    Attend fittings as needed

    Complete ad-hoc tasks and assignments as directed by management 


Required Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

    Possess strong knowledge in garment construction and specifications

    Self-driven with a sense of urgency

    Highly organized, able to take direction, and high level of attention to detail

    Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills, initiative and follow-up skills

    Must be able to take charge, multi-task and lead projects

    Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, provide a high level of attention to detail, and handle multiple deadlines simultaneously

    An active team player and believe that “no task is too small” for the benefit of the greater good

    Team player and ability to multitask

    Flexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environment

    Must be able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing and pulling

    Must be able to sit for extended periods of time


Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum 1-2+ year working in a similar role

    Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

    Excellent computer skills including Excel and Internet research

    Must be able to perform efficiently with tight deadlines

    Deadline focused and goal driven


Preferred Qualifications:

    Degree in Fashion, Product Development or similar field

    Experience with Denim

    Experience with overseas vendors

    Some experience in PLM system

    Fabric knowledge

    Strong analytical and decision making skills
