The Manager Business Development leads the credit union’s strategic growth initiatives through Select Employer Group (SEG) engagement and oversight. 

Manager Business Development ensures measurable ROI on all business development KPIs including, but not limited to, market share growth in new member acquisition / existing member retention, total deposits and loan balances, new SEG onboarding, existing SEG product adoption, and enhanced income from ancillary products and services such as mortgage, insurance, and investment sales. This role drives the long-term vision of the business development group and serves as primary liaison between the business development group and the ELT. Champions the business development group’s value creation by tracking, measuring, and reporting results to ELT / Board of Directors.

 

 As a Manager, Business Development you will: 

 

  • Provide strategic leadership and daily oversight to the team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sales targets. Actively participate in sales efforts while guiding the team.
  • Regularly coach and mentor subordinates to ensure understanding and achievement of performance standards. Provide actionable feedback and development plans to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
  • Maintain and analyze department performance metrics and budget, identifying trends and opportunities to maximize sales effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate targeted training sessions, including shadowing and role-playing exercises, to strengthen sales techniques and product knowledge.
  • Manage escalations from SEG leadership and supports Business Development Specialists in resolving complex issues. Reports systemic risks or potential losses to senior leadership.
  • Assign and prioritize work based on strategic objectives. Conduct regular audits and performance reviews to assess individual contributions and team outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Strategy Office to develop and execute strategic plans that drive business growth and community engagement.
  • Build and nurture relationships with partners across GLCU’s geographic footprint, promoting the credit union and expanding its presence through strategic outreach.
  • Lead initiatives to identify and secure new business partner relationships, enhancing GLCU’s visibility and reputation as a trusted financial institution.
  • Serve as a liaison across departments and external organizations, coordinating TBD activities and representing GLCU at civic, trade, and professional events.
  • Ensure timely follow-up with members after on-site visits, reinforcing GLCU’s commitment to personalized service and member satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Select Employer Groups (SEGs) and community partners, delivering tailored financial solutions and coordinating educational events in partnership with internal teams.
  • Coordinate and attend partner visits, facilitating on-site account openings and collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless member onboarding and follow-up.
  • Partners with retail, commercial lending, small business lending, mortgage, HUD Certified Counselors, and the contact center to deliver comprehensive financial solutions based on member needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and adheres to GLCU policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Business Development department and GLCU.
