Materials Engineering Technician- Level II
We are looking for a talented Materials Engineering Technician- Level II to join our team specializing in analytical/material testing for our Cookeville, TN location. This role performs routine analyses using materials engineering tools, analytical instrumentation, and test equipment, while positively impacting the organization's performance. This role will support testing, analysis, and reporting related to filtration products, materials, and media. Candidate will work closely with engineers, scientists, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely testing that supports product development, quality, and customer requirements. This role is 100% on-site.
Responsibilities
- Operates analytical instruments and equipment and performs analysis in support of production and non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups.
- Prepares samples and specimens for testing using standard laboratory techniques, procedures, or work instructions.
- Acquires and interprets data and documents results; provides written results in a laboratory or technical report format when appropriate.
- Develops and documents laboratory methods.
- Performs routine calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of instruments and equipment.
- Coordinates the collection, transportation, and documentation of chemical waste disposal.
- Comply with all lab safety and HSE standards, policies, procedures & regulations.
- Maintain laboratory supplies, cleanliness and readiness for ongoing testing actives.
- Works with and trains apprentices, trainees, and technicians.
- Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.
- Supports in the coordination of assigned testing including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
- Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions.
- Participates in improvement projects. Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.
- Participates in self and team audits and associated corrective action.
- Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
- Regionally applicable certification or two-year associate degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of lab experience.
- Analytical instrumentation experience.
- Knowledge of quality systems, a plus.
- Basic knowledge of HSE standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to write technical documents, a plus.
