Position Description

 Reports to:                                         Transportation Services Manager

 

Job Summary: To provide the highest quality, safe transportation for the Sisters and residents of The Center at Donaldson as well as perform other errands and duties as requested.

§  Run errands and pick up supplies as requested and assigned.

§  Lifting boxes, furniture, and personal items such as, but not limited to, luggage, shopping bags and packages for Sisters and CKLC residents using transportation services and at other times as assigned. 

§  Providing quality service in a courteous, friendly and hospitable manner.

§  Assist the Transportation Services Technician by filling the vehicles with gasoline as requested and assigned. 

§  Maintain a positive and thoughtful attitude and demeanor when transporting Sisters and residents. 

§  Carefully transport Sisters and Residents [not in life threatening situations] by wheelchair. 

§  Participate in Total Quality Management processes as assigned.

§  Assist with The Center at Donaldson recycling program by collecting and delivering any re-useable materials to the recycling area. 

§  Assist the Transportation Services Technician by keeping all vehicles clean and presentable and by reporting any identified problems and/or malfunctions of vehicles. 

§  Assure that the established quality expectations are achieved.

§  Coordinate the Transportation Services Co-worker schedules to provide efficient transportation services in a punctual and safe manner. 

§  Help to keep all vehicles snow and ice-free in the winter months.

 

SPECIFICATIONS

Prior Education and Training:  

§  “For Hire” endorsement on Driver’s License

 

Prior Work Experience/Skills Required:

§  Capable of large city, heavy traffic driving.

§  Pleasant personality and calm demeanor.

§  Appropriate driving experience.

§  Ability to relate to others on a continuous basis

§  Must possess written and verbal communication skills as well as reasoning, math and language skills

§  Ability to make frequent independent judgments.

 

Orientation Required: 

§  One to three months familiarity with area

§  Completion of new Co-Worker orientation.

 

Environmental conditions:

§  Job requires sustained mental attention and physical exertion related to driving.

§  May be required to drive in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions.

§  Work hours may, on occasion be irregular to include, but not be limited to, short notice, weekends, holidays and evenings. 

§  Must be available to work in a weekend and Holiday rotation as well as a weekly “on call” rotation as set forth by the Transportation Services Manager.

§  Position requires frequent sitting as well as occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and pushing/pulling

§  Position requires occasional pushing/pulling of over 300 lbs. and lifting of up to 50 lbs.

§  Position requires good visual acuity.
