Your Opportunity
Stantec's West Coast buildings group is looking for an Acoustician to join their growing team. The main purpose of this position is to support the growth of Stantec Buildings Acoustics and Vibration Practice. You will be the advocate of the practice both internally within Stantec and externally to clients and professional organizations.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and manage business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
- Ensure the business delivers work that secures repeat business for valued clients.
- Participate in projects as either Project Manager, Project Technical Leader, or other substantive technical or delivery role.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers and other disciplines in the built environment.
- Partner with the design team on architectural acoustics, mechanical systems noise and vibration control, and environmental noise control.
- Build and maintain client relationships.
- Participate in advancing current auralization tools and Interactive VR/acoustics tools.
- Participate in identifying future auralization/VR/AI tools to continue to advance design processes, simulation capabilities, and clients’ demonstrations
- Meet financial performance targets and delivers projects within budget.
- Handle acoustic design development and document preparation.
- Research, prepare, and present coordinated design options.
- Review drawings and research code issues to comply with city, state, and county regulations.
- Communicate with manufacturers, design team, and contractors to address challenges and develop practical design options.
- Provide input on the creation and editing of technical specifications for acoustic products.
- Understand the technical background behind his/her own work
- Wiling and capable of communicating designs and design requirements with clients.
- Regional and out-of-state travel is required on occasion.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Professional experience specific to acoustical design and vibration control in a wide variety of project types, including, but not limited to, educational facilities, drama and music theatres, healthcare facilities, commercial spaces, high-end multifamily residential, and environmental noise.
- Ability to produce project-related documents, including sketches, memos, and reports to appropriate standards.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards applicable to the industry.
- Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects, including LEED and WELL.
- Knowledge of related engineering standards.
- Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes is preferred.
- Ability to review detailed drawings.
- Ability to research and present design options.
- Ability to learn or basic familiarity with recent versions of AutoCAD; in particular, AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP preferred.
- Familiarity with SoundPlan/CADNA, EASE/CATT, and sound and vibration measuring equipment preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of office software.
- Ability to learn and deftly navigate customized in-house database and software applications.
- Ability to read, interpret, and act upon information included in specifications, submittals, RFIs, etc.
- Must have valid driver's license and a clean MVR
- Must have all required travel documents.
Education and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of related experience, or combination of education and experience. The related experience should predominantly be in building acoustics.
Stantec offers a hybrid home/office work environment, and expects team members in one of our local at least 2 days a week or more for all-staff meetings, project-related team work sessions, client meetings, and employee engagement functions etc.
