Independence Plus is now hiring a full-time Executive Director of Operations. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Full benefits available; PTO, medical, dental, vision coverage and 401(k) plan.
Job Description Summary
The Executive Director of Operations works within the Home Nursing and Home Health divisions to provide strategic direction, clinical oversight, and operational leadership to ensure exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, employee utilization, and organizational growth. This leader is responsible for aligning clinical, quality assurance, scheduling and recruiting, and clinical education operations with the company’s mission to deliver high-quality and compassionate care in the home setting while maintaining financial integrity and operational excellence.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
1. Strategic and Operational Leadership
A. Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve organizational goals in quality, growth, and efficiency.
B. Oversee daily operations across Home Health, Private Duty Nursing, and Clinical Support services.
C. Direct workflow design, staffing models, and process improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and staff productivity. D. D. Collaborate with executive leadership to set short- and long-term objectives, budgets, and key performance metrics related to: Quality and Compliance – Operational Efficiency – Clinical Outcomes – Scheduling Fill Ratios – Patient Experience – Workforce Stability
2. Clinical Oversight and Compliance
A. Ensure all nursing and home health services comply with federal (CMS), state (IHFS), licensing, accrediting (CHAP), insurance, and company standards.
B. Oversee quality assurance, chart audits, and performance improvement programs.
C. Monitor compliance with physician orders, KanTime accuracy, and Plan of Care documentation.
D. Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and best-practice standards consistent with current regulations.
E. Serve as the key liaison during regulatory surveys and internal compliance reviews.
3. Performance and Quality Management
A. Establish, track, and analyze KPIs for quality, timeliness, productivity, and financial outcomes.
B. Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and reduce readmissions.
C. Ensure timely and accurate submission of all clinical documentation and billing-related information.
D. Implement systems to measure and report outcomes, leveraging data to inform operational decisions.
4. Leadership and Staff Development
A. Lead, mentor, and develop directors, managers, schedulers, recruiters, and field staff through coaching, feedback, and professional development plans.
B. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence in clinical care and communication.
C. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, assignment, and retention of field clinicians (primarily nurses).
D. Oversee Quality Assurance and Performance Indicator (“QAPI”) reporting; and
E. Promote teamwork and effective communication between administrative and clinical staff to support coordinated care delivery.
5. Financial and Resource Management
A. Oversee pay rates and overtime for field nurses.
B. Monitor key financial indicators, including nurse recruitment, labor utilization, visit productivity, and reimbursement performance; and
C. Partner with the finance team to ensure accurate forecasting, cost control, and optimal resource allocation.
D. Manage annual operating budgets for nursing and home health divisions.
6. Patient and Referral Relations
A. Ensure exceptional patient and family experiences through proactive communication and service recovery.
B. Foster strong relationships with referral sources, including hospitals, SNFs, and physicians; and
C. Collaborate with Vice President of Patient & Employee Relations to oversee resolution of escalated patient or family concerns to maintain trust and satisfaction.
Requirements
- Minimum of seven (7) years in a leadership position overseeing nursing or home health operations.
- Proven record of managing large clinical teams and driving quality and compliance outcomes.
- Experience overseeing budgets, regulatory compliance, and multi-site operations strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of CMS, IHFS, and other state/federal home health regulations.
- Experience in working with healthcare accrediting organizations.
- Strong financial, analytical, and strategic-planning abilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage change and foster a high-performance culture.
