POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for project development, development of the team on the project, estimating, and project coordination. This position requires a high degree of maturity, ethics and professionalism to ensure control of the company’s expenditures. The Sr Project Manager is responsible for managing a team of associates assuring the end-to-end delivery of client projects.
POSITION COMPETENCIES: Responsibilities associated with each position are a combination of organization-wide and department specific standards. Competencies are evaluated initially during each employee’s Introductory Period using the on-boarding plan and manager observations. Thereafter, competencies are assessed on an on-going basis and formally documented annually using the Annual Performance Appraisal Form.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and manage the team consisting of both Project Managers and Assoc Project Managers on the specifics of their programs and project management systems.
- Review and provide feedback to develop the Project Management Teams performance.
- Develop and manage the project ensuring strict adherence to company policies regarding contractor selection.
- Meet with customer representatives, architects, and engineers to establish project requirements, specifications, and schedules.
- Spearheads training efforts to ensure all Project Managers are consistent in Miller Zell ways of working
- Monitor and maintain construction project schedule.
- Serve as a liaison between MZ, contractors and MZ customers.
- Enforce contractual requirements.
- Review and approve all change orders.
- Execute all contract documents.
- Build relationships with Subcontractors and Installation Crews.
- Schedule Subcontractors.
- Schedule Crews.
- Train Crews and Subcontractors.
- Create project specific installation manuals.
- Manage project specific reporting, completion and closeout.
- Manage Subcontractor Invoicing/Customer Billing (where applicable).
- Estimate Projects.
- Order Equipment.
- Implementation of an effective project management strategy.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commercial retail construction management. Experience managing a team of direct reports.

- Must function well in a fast-paced environment with high energy and a high sense of urgency, Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple, high priority projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of installation practices and techniques.
- Ability to prepare project documentation and direct project meetings.
- Strong analytical and planning skills.
- Proficient with MS Project and Outlook.
- Must be able to read floor plans and construction documents.
