Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for the preparation and payment of the organization's accounts payable and reimbursements, and/or the planning, scheduling, and directing of the accounts payable unit in accordance with the established accounting policies of the company.


Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Leads the Accounts Payable and Travel & Expense teams for the delivery of quality services in accordance to Corporate and business strategies and requirements.
  • Oversees quality assurance of the accounts payable process and resolve issues where escalated.
  • Manages escalations from internal customers and response to customer inquiries, ensuring issue and error resolution.
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies & controls and with external regulations.
  • Responds to customer feedback survey results.
  • Identifies and drives improvement opportunities for Accounts Payable and Travel & Expense services. Works closely with service providers and Business Improvement function to ensure implementation of these.
  • Directly supervises team members in the Accounts Payable Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; collaborates with Manager to appraise performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Education and/or Experience

  • Associate degree in Accounting required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Preferably two (2) to three (3) years of experience in supervising, especially in a team environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in an Accounts Payable environment with a high volume of invoices will be considered a plus.
  • Broad based experience with procurement, accounting, and financial systems highly preferred.
  • Experience in interfacing with business operational customers and performing to a set of service level expectations desired.
  • Internal controls experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management preferred.


Skills

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Understanding of best practices and metrics for Purchasing transactions, Accounts Payable and Travel & Expenses. Ability to utilize metrics to identify opportunities for service improvement. Ability to apply best practices to departmental operations. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, such as patient and Company files.


Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
