School Based Health Center - Rainier Beach High School What do you think will attract candidates to this position? Do you have a passion for working with youth? Do you thrive in a collaborative team setting? If so, Public Health wants you to join our team at the Rainier Beach High School Teen Clinic as a Clinic Coordinator (Health Program Assistant I). Your team includes 2 Behavioral Health Specialists and Nurse Practitioner who work with you and the school nurse to meet the health needs of the Rainier Beach student body. This position works full-time when school is in session. This is a non-exempt Career Service position with a scheduled workday of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During school breaks there may be the opportunity to work at other Public Health sites. When working at other sites, the candidate is expected to work the typical hours of the site. Those hours may vary slightly based on site needs.
The Clinic Coordinator is often the first contact students have with the Wellness Center and is the face of the clinic to the school. The successful candidate will have ability to engage students from a variety of cultures, excellent communication skills, strong organizational skill and the ability to work independently while developing and maintaining relationships with school staff and community partners.

Work Schedule
Mon-Friday 7:30 - 4:00pm Will have the ability to float to other Public Health Clinics during school breaks and summer break. That work schedule will depend on the individual sites.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Position Duties
Prepare clinic to open and close for business in accordance with the clinic’s posted schedule. Coordinate schedules of all providers in the Health Center, ensuring all students arrive for appointments, are checked in appropriately, and are seen according to their needs and the needs of the providers. Maintain student health records through the Epic electronic health record system(s), assuring registration and insurance information is correct. Manage inventory of office supplies, including ordering, invoicing, receiving, and stocking supplies. Perform all day-to-day administrative clinic tasks, including but not limited to answering telephone and email inquiries, greeting Health Center visitors, managing/adjusting clinic flow as needed. Serve as back-up site vaccine coordinator – monitor and report equipment temperature and status, participating in vaccine audits, and ensuring up-to-date record keeping. Coordinate and participate in targeted outreach activities focused on promoting, integrating, and informing students, families, school staff, and the general school community about the School-based Health Center services. Coordinate and/or perform basic educational outreach activities focused on health promotion and health education to students and families. Develop and manage materials and announcements associated with School-based Health Center outreach activities. Serve as the primary point of contact for referrals and service inquiries from school staff and families for School-based Health Center services. Attend school meetings related to identification and coordination of health support services for students. Educate patients, school staff, and families on other health care and basic support services available in the community and within the school through student support/intervention systems as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Prior experience working with youth and young adults. Prior experience working in a medical clinic doing front office duties. Medical terminology Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EPIC specifically) Knowledge of personal computer and various software applications Knowledge of federal, Washington State and local health rules and regulations Knowledge of community agencies Communication skills (oral and written) Problem solving skills Computer skills Basic mathematics skills Organization skills Skills in prioritizing work and handling multiple tasks simultaneously Skill in defusing escalated situations Skill in working with diverse populations Skill in meeting deadlines and time constraints
