Non-Tenure: Visiting Instructional Associate Professor – Architectural Engineering presso Texas A&M University

The Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) faculty position (part-time), in the title of Visiting Instructional Associate Professor, in Architectural Engineering. The 9-month academic appointment, with the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, begins January 1, 2026.  Successful applicants will be required to teach existing undergraduate courses, assist with the creation of new courses, and to provide service to the program and department as appropriate to the appointment. 

The successful applicant will also continue to support building the newly ABET accredited Architectural Engineering program at Texas A&M's College of Engineering.  The applicant will be teaching undergraduate courses in the curriculum of the Bachelor of Science Architectural Engineering degree, supporting the on-going development, program assessment, and growth of the Architectural Engineering program, engaging a wide network of industry partners in various activities that yield direct benefits to the objectives and students in the program, collaborating with faculty across disciplines, in particular those in the College of Engineering and College of Architecture, serving on committees within the university, advising and mentoring undergraduate students to achieve academic success, as well as mentoring student leaders and advising project and competition teams.

At Texas A&M University, the Architectural Engineering program is housed within the Multidisciplinary Engineering Department, reflecting the inherently multidisciplinary nature of architectural engineering. Remarkably, just six years after its inception and with nearly 300 students enrolled—counting only sophomores through seniors—the program is on track to become one of the largest in the country.

The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering, with emphasis in mechanical engineering. 

The successful applicant must have expertise in building engineering project design and delivery, building systems integration, sustainable rating systems, and interdisciplinary coordination of project teams.  Applicants for this position must have professional and teaching experience in two or more of the following areas of architectural engineering: (in order of importance) mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems; building electrical, lighting, power, and controls; building enclosures; building acoustics; and structures and construction systems. Applicants should also be familiar with relevant building codes and standards, as well as their relationship to architectural design. Depending on the appointment being considered, preference will be given to candidates with a doctoral degree and/or professional licensure.
