Summary:
The School Psychology Intern is responsible for psycho-educational evaluations of children referred for eligibility for special education programs and for the re-evaluation of students in special education programs. The School Psychology Intern shall serve as a consultant to the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) and/or district personnel in the development and implementation of individual education programs while under the supervision of a CCIU and/or District Certified School Psychologist. Doctoral candidates will be under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist. The School Psychology Intern position will provide a comprehensive experience within both the Chester County Intermediate Unit and partner school district setting.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Completing comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for students ranging in age from 3 to 21 years old
- Meet with educational teams and parents to communicate the results of the psychoeducational assessment
- Consultation with teachers, parents, and IEP team members related to academic and behavioral interventions and educational programming
- Participate in collaborative meetings with practicing school psychologists working in a variety of settings
- Support students and families as they transition from early intervention to school-aged services and from school-aged services to adult life
- Maintains accurate records on job functions including information related to the referral and evaluation process
- Other duties and functions as assigned by the supervising School Psychologist and/or CCIU and district administration
- Opportunities for self-directed projects or activities deemed mutually beneficial to the intern’s program of study and the school team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of consultative, assessment and intervention components of school psychology
- Ability to analyze and synthesize the concepts involved in individual, group and systems consultation
- Must be able to evaluate and interpret data from a variety of assessment measures used in school psychology data-based decision-making
- Ability to select appropriate assessment batteries that adequately answer referral questions while accounting for unique student profiles
- Ability to design, implement, and monitor academic and behavioral interventions
- Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication, technology and personal organization
- Demonstrate understanding of the principles of professional ethics and standards of practice as outlined by the National Association of School Psychologists
- Knowledge of legal issues related to special education and school psychology
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Enrollment in accredited School Psychology program (Master’s or Doctorate) required
- Progress toward Pennsylvania Department of Education School Psychologist Certification required
Professional or Other Required Clearances
- Current State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI Fiingerprints, clearances within 1 year required
Schedule:
10-month role occuring in the 2026-2027 school-year; 190 days per year, 5 days/week, 7.5 hrs/day
Hours are dependent on the needs of the CCIU and partner districts
Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $25.00 per hour
