Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective English programmes in line with awarding body requirements
- Prepare high-quality schemes of work, assessments, and learning materials
- Act as a course tutor, guiding and motivating learners to achieve their individual goals
- Contribute to curriculum planning and internal verification processes
- Use Information Learning Technology (ILT) and multimedia resources to enhance learning
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress, attendance, and achievement
- Support the continuous improvement of teaching, learning, and the overall student experience
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and external partners to meet learner and community needs
- Uphold College policies on safeguarding, equality, and health and safety
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in English
- A Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
- Strong organisational, administrative, and presentation skills
- The ability to inspire, motivate, and support students of all abilities
- Experience using ILT and innovative teaching approaches
- A genuine commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding
- Team-focused with a proactive and adaptable approach to new initiatives

- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
❌ Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
- PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
- SFHEA (Senior Fellowship)
