Overview:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will assume responsibility and accountability for care of infants, children, adults, geriatric patients undergoing surgical procedures. Care needs may range from those requiring outpatient procedures to the critically ill.The RN will utilize the nursing process in the provision of care and will practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansasand the policies, procedures and standards of the Health System. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care, clinical support, and coordination of services for patients within the Vascular Surgery and General Surgery clinic. The RN functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. This role may require occasional travel to satellite clinic locations to support patient care and clinic operations.

 

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:

 

This position is a designated as “Safety Sensitive Position” under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and supporting the delivery health care related services.  

Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse with current, active Arkansas license
  • Proof of higher education
  • Preferred experience in Vascular and General Surgery
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills.

  • Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Flexibility to travel to satellite clinics as required (valid driver’s license and reliable transportation).

Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care & Assessment

    • Perform patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and document findings.

    • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and clinic protocols.

    • Provide patient education related to surgical procedures, vascular conditions, wound care, and post-operative instructions.

    • Prior authorizations for surgeries and correspondance with insurance.
  • Clinical Support & Coordination

    • Assist providers with in-office procedures (e.g., wound care, suture/staple removal, drain management, vascular studies).

    • Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits, ensuring proper supplies and equipment are available.

    • Triage patient phone calls, portal messages, and walk-in concerns, escalating to providers as appropriate.

    • Coordinate surgical scheduling, pre-operative testing, and post-operative follow-up.

  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with surgeons, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and front-office staff to ensure smooth clinic flow.

    • Communicate test results, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions to patients in a clear and compassionate manner.

    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Travel Responsibilities

    • Provide nursing coverage at designated satellite clinics as needed.

    • Ensure continuity of care and consistent application of clinical standards across locations.

  • Compliance & Safety

    • Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards.

    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
