Primary Purpose: Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator provides strategic support to the P-TECH model of Ingram Tom Moore High School and serves as the Early College Assistant to the P-TECH Coordinator. Under the guidance of the P-TECH Coordinator, the WBL Coordinator will help to secure key industry partners in the identified fields to support the P-TECH program. The WBL Coordinator will help to support students in connecting with and succeeding in workplace learning opportunities, such as internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing. WBL Coordinator/Early College Assistant helps the P-TECH Coordinator with monitoring student tracking and support for the acquisition of industry-based certifications, dual credit options, and Level I and II certifications. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or close to completion.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of career technical instruction and authentic work-based learning opportunities
Ability to work collaboratively with other experienced professionals, teachers, parents, students and other stakeholders to develop relationships to support the P-TECH model
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Self-starter and strong work ethic
Experience:
Three or more years of teaching experience or workforce experience directly related to developing partnerships and monitoring/supervising programs.
Student Support:
Help students develop resumes, practice interviewing skills, and understand professional workplace etiquette.
Create high-quality internship, apprenticeship, and job shadowing opportunities for students.
Guide students through the application and placement process, providing ongoing support to ensure a positive and productive experience for both students and employers.
Monitor P-TECH students and provide interventions as needed.
Employer Relations:
Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, industry partners, and community organizations to create and secure work-based learning opportunities.
Develop and coordinate partnerships with organizations that provide academic support to students.
Program Coordination Assistance:
Assist with the logistical coordination of internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning experiences, including scheduling and paperwork.
Provide students with school-based opportunities to build knowledge and skills related to P-TECH pathways.
Meet quarterly with the P-TECH Leadership Team regarding employer participation, new partnerships, curriculum resources, and student progress.
Attend advisory meetings and update the committee on work-based learning opportunities and needs.
Liaison:
Serve as a point of contact between the P-TECH program, students, and their work-based learning site supervisors.
Promote the work of the P-TECH program by publishing articles that highlight student experiences, partnership development, or teacher effectiveness on the district’s P-TECH website, the high school website, and various social media outlets.
