The Student Accounts Specialist is responsible for assisting with the daily functions of the Student Accounts Office, the collection of monies due to the College, and duties related to maintaining student records and accounts receivable functions.
Occasional meetings at different CCC locations and in the community may be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events may be required. Prolonged time sitting/standing working with computers and monitors, ability to walk/move across campus including walking up and down stairs, ability to lift up to 20 pounds (occasionally may be more), repeated motions may include keyboard typing. Typical office and indoor building environments, occasional outdoor activity may be required. Incumbent must perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation. Position Duties
Customer Service 50%
- Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, external organizations, and the general public regarding Student Financial Services.
- Assist students as needed via email and phone with billing, financial aid, and registration questions and issues.
- Contact students with past due bills via email, text, and phone calls.
- Ensure that each NY state resident student has a valid Certificate of Residence on file and within first 30 days of semester.
- Conduct outreach and follow up as needed.
- Provide general office support as needed.
- Post bookstore charges to student accounts daily.
- Post all payments that come in for student accounts (outside of the Nelnet automatic payment postings).
- Post all miscellaneous cash receipts for the college with the proper accounting.
- Prepare and reconcile daily cash reports.
- Perform other related duties, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to problem solve, multi-task, and work well under pressure.
- Empathetic, cheerful attitude.
- Good working knowledge of Banner 9, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Demonstrates commitment to accomplishing work in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Ability to effectively convey information verbally and in writing, demonstrate effective listening skills, and display respect for and openness to other people’s ideas and thoughts.
- Ability to accept changes to job requirements, policies, workload, etc., as well as learn new methods, procedures, or techniques resulting from change with the ability to clearly approach problems and find solutions.
- Demonstrates support for the College’s goal of becoming a more diverse, inclusive, and culturally aware community and practicing anti-racist/biased behaviors.
Other Qualifications
- Associates degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field
- 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting work experience
- Working knowledge of Banner 9, Adobe Sign platforms.
- Ability to update internal and external website
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting work experience
Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including, but not limited to relevant experience, education, market demands, and training.
