Position Description

A graduate student in an institution within the Texas Tech University System employed in support of a department or unit responsible for work assigned by the supervisor within the unit or department which utilizes knowledge beyond undergraduate academic studies.

Major/Essential Functions

  1. Software Development and Programming:
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of software applications using Python and HTML.
    • Write, test, and debug code to ensure the functionality and performance of software solutions.
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of user interfaces and system features.
  2. Data Analysis and Management:
    • Utilize advanced skills in MS Excel to analyze and visualize data, generate reports, and create dashboards.
    • Assist in managing and organizing data, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
    • Conduct data entry, validation, and cleansing as needed.
  3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide technical support for software and systems, addressing and resolving issues promptly.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to software applications and systems.
    • Document and escalate technical issues to senior IT staff or development teams when necessary.
  4. Learning and Adaptation:
    • Learn and adapt to new software and tools for speech analysis.
    • Participate in training sessions and workshops to gain proficiency in new technologies and methodologies.
    • Apply new skills to support ongoing projects and contribute to the team’s technological capabilities.
  5. Project Assistance:
    • Support project teams in the development, testing, and deployment of IT solutions.
    • Assist with project documentation, including requirements gathering, technical specifications, and progress reports.
    • Contribute to project planning and coordination efforts as needed.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and clients to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
    • Communicate effectively to provide updates on project status, technical issues, and solutions.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and systems.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation for code, systems, and processes to ensure clarity and continuity.
    • Prepare and present reports on technical activities, project progress, and performance metrics.
  8. Compliance and Best Practices:
    • Adhere to best practices for coding, software development, and data management.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
