Under general supervision, responsible for performing non-invasive examinations used in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases. Responsibilities include performing a full range of non-invasive tests and other related duties in patient care. May mentor and review images/reports from new staff performing advanced vascular testing.
Responsibilities
- Receives orders for testing as prescribed by a physician and determines appropriate test based on patient history.
- Performs arterial, venous and carotid examinations as well as abdominal and miscellaneous exams using cognitive vascular skills.
- Performs duplex imaging arterial and venous exams using continuous color doppler and plethysmography techniques.
- Responsible for ensuring billing is done daily, as well as ensures reports are signed timely by the Vascular Surgeons.
- Ensures equipment is working properly, reporting any issues and ensuring maintenance is performed as needed.
- Oversees that students are assigned to the various Vascular Labs and monitored.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
- Scanning skills to produce quality images of arteries and veins.
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all patients, staff, faculty.
- Ability to follow regulations, protocols, and policies.
- Ability to discuss and explain tests results to ordering physicians.
- Must be able to read and interpret radiological reports for correl.
- Knowledge of ICAVL standards and ability to follow scanning protocols with quality scans.
EDUCATION:
Associates degree and completion of a formal vascular technology training program or two (2) years in an allied health care training program is required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
Certified as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or (RVS) by testing agencies recognized IAC required.
