Schedule: Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:
- This position is responsible for overall maintenance in the cage and pedigree sister/supersister and hatchery areas of the farm. Other duties may be assigned.
Priority consideration will be given to applicants at this facility, as well as priority for internal candidates impacted due to plant closure or job elimination
Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level = 6 attendance points and 6 months in current area unless the Team Member is promoting, then less than 6 months in current area is allowable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs preventive maintenance and maintains an inventory of preventive maintenance supplies in the assigned area by performing generator testing per animal welfare requirements, inspecting wells weekly for proper function and add chlorine if needed, greases bearings, changes fan belts, checks fan speeds, changes filters, etc. as required by the preventive maintenance program (50%)
- Identifies equipment failures and makes repairs if able by connecting electrical wiring to install/repair lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, terminal boards, etc.; installing and/or making repairs to plumbing; and making minor construction repairs to buildings, maintains vehicles by checking fluid levels, filters, tire pressure, and clean/disinfect to remove debris, orders replacement parts as needed, or communicates with manager need to contact a contract vendor (30%)
- Setup egg collection system to insure proper operation (10%)
- Meet all requirements for chemical coordinator, LOTO, hot works, forklift, HVAC
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities:
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Such as: Responsible for all general maintenance of farm on assigned weekend and during on-call hours, assist maintenance is other areas, operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizer, maintains a clean and organized work area. (10%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move items such as vehicle parts, fan motors, tools weighing up to 50 pounds. A pallet jack may be required to occasionally move skids of supplies and various on-farm equipment weighing up to 2000 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb a staircase to the hatchery roof (16’); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
- Tools and Equipment: Requires use of hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, etc.; power tools such as drill, Sawzall, table saw, etc.; equipment such as cutting torch, welder, vehicle jack, tractor/loader; and safe operation of vehicle to and from work area.
- Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
- Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots, ear plugs, and fall protection are required. Must wear company provided facial covering. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators may be worn as needed. Other PPE may be required for specific job functions related to machine guarding, electrical, and welding.
- Chemicals Commonly Used: Formaldehyde, peroxide, disinfectants, lubricants, and vehicle fluids.
- Safety: Will be trained to recognize and comply with all safety procedures.
