- Reviews construction plans, plats and drainage studies to ensure compliance with County regulations; Recommends minimum slab elevations to County Engineering Department.
 - Productively interact, communicate, and work with private design engineers, surveyors and developers during review of their construction plans and plats.
 - Participate in on-site construction meetings and perform field inspections of drainage infrastructure.
 - Comprehend and analyze results of hydrologic and hydraulic drainage impacts analysis, reports, and modeling.
 - Effectively communicate, evaluate, collaborate, and implement solutions with various stakeholders including Fort Bend County residents and officials, senior management, engineers, and developers.
 - Assists in the evaluation of drainage standards/regulations and the use of Drainage District resources.
 - Ability to comprehend and analyze results of hydrologic and hydraulic drainage impacts analysis, reports, and modeling
 - Assist in management of and represent Fort Bend County Drainage District in projects, including defining project objectives, goals, scope-of-work, and managing budget, procurement of design engineers and contractors, project coordination and addressing inquiries, approval of project invoices, project interaction with private landowners including right-of-way acquisition and serving as direct contact as matters arise during construction.
 - Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
 
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
 - Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification and Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required.
 - 2 years experience in civil engineering or related field. General experience in hydrology, hydraulics and public sector storm water management engineering preferred.
 - Strong verbal and written communication, math and computer skills.
 - Organizational skills with the ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner and prioritize own work.
 - Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
 
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $32.26 - $40.33 hourly based on qualifications
CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
