POSITION SUMMARY
At Roundup River Ranch, we see and aim to provide care for the whole child. We provide specialized medical care to each of our campers, and also provide mental, emotional, and social health care and support. The Behavioral Health Lead will be a direct report of the Behavioral Health Manager and will be the front-line support for camper’s behavioral health needs, and the as needed support of Cabin staff/volunteers in their care for campers. The Behavioral Health Lead will serve as a primary point of contact and will provide camper behavior support tools, resources, and trainings to seasonal staff in direct care of campers. This residential role can expect to work extended days typical of a camp environment, with regular time off scheduled each day and at least 2 days off after each session.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Job Responsibilities: Behavioral Support
- Provide behavioral health support for campers as needed and lead seasonal staff in supporting mental, emotional, and social health needs of their campers.
- As directed by the Behavioral Health Manager and Cabin Life Team communicate with campers’ parents/guardians, as needed, in preparation for the camp session.
- Serve as a resource for summer staff and volunteers in supporting campers in the areas of behavior support, communication, and mental health.
- Support the Behavioral Health Manager providing education opportunities to seasonal staff throughout the summer.
- Identify a mental, social, or emotional need in any individual or group and support using best practices.
- In collaboration with the Behavioral Health Manager, serve as a liaison for behavioral concerns between the cabin life and medical teams at team meetings.
Job Responsibilities: Administrative
- Collaborate with the Behavioral Health Manager by reviewing camper applications prior to the camp session
- Assist the Cabin Life Team with summer staff training and volunteer orientation and training.
- Follow camp standards of confidentiality regarding camper and staff medical records.
- Maintain camper and colleague confidentiality at all times, and respect the confidentiality of leadership team discussions/responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Behavioral Health Manager to include camper file record-keeping, camper profile updates, etc.
- Establish and support ongoing staff appreciation and community building.
- Weekly leadership responsibilities include acting as a lead Bus Chaperone throughout the summer to support the safety and organization of camper transportation to and from Denver; collecting, reviewing, and revising Camper Profile Sheets; other leadership roles as directed by Admin Team.
- Work with Admin and other Leadership staff to ensure emotionally safe programming and residential experience for campers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
JOB COMPETENCIES
- Strong communication skills (written and oral).

- Be able to identify emergency situations, either by seeing them happen, hearing cries for help, or hearing the emergency alert.
- Have the strength, endurance, and physical skills to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations, according to written emergency procedures and plans.
- Be able to demonstrate or participate in camp activities as they supervise and instruct campers: this will require the ability to walk, sit, climb, kneel, crouch, stoop, and stand.
- This role requires the ability to supervise campers in a variety of settings, including maintaining awareness of camper behavior and safety. These responsibilities may involve auditory and visual attention. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed Behavioral Health professional, or working toward completion of degree/certification in Social Work or a related Behavioral Health field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth/adolescents, preferably in a behavioral health role.
- Licenses/Degrees in Child Development, service, or therapy fields, and experience in a camp, school, or child development setting is preferred.

Special Requirements
This is a residential position. Accommodation will be provided for the duration of the contract, and meals will be provided while camp is in session.
