Shore Educational Collaborative seeks and Assistant Director for our therapeutic middle and high school programs for students who have significant emotional and behavior challenges related to learning disabilities, trauma, ADHD, and other factors.

 

The selected candidate will assist in the management of the milieu and all program functions, including therapeutic, curricular, transitional and vocational experiences for students, with the goal of ensuring students graduate with a high school diploma (issued by their school district) and the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the workforce and/or postgraduate studies.

 

The Ass’t Director must be team-oriented and possess strong oral and written communication skills and effective management skills, and must have the demonstrated ability to assist the Program Director in developing and maintaining structures and programming that support student success.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Improve achievement for all students through education, vocational training, and experience based as fully as possible on their own stated needs, interests, and expectations.
  • Ensure students receive support and are able to be successful as they access educational opportunities through Edgenuity.
  • Support teachers in the development of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plans (FBA-BIP) and transition plans.
  • Assist in and supervise student interventions, including crisis management, staff training and systems of student support.
  • Assist in ensuring safety and security of all community members, and processes for arrival, dismissal, off-site trips, etc.
  • Support the successful operation of the programs by being visible and available to support staff in the milieu, and during community events.
  • Support new teachers in their instructional practice.
  • Assist in the complete IEP process, including all team meetings and intakes.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of professionalism and present as a strong role model for staff and students.
  • Ensure all aspects of the program operate in accordance with Shore’s policies, and state and federal regulatory expectations and legal responsibilities for serving students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Dedication to affirming and serving a multilingual and multicultural group of students with disabilities and their families.
  • Special Education Administrator/Director or License Eligible; Educator license required.
  • Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Minimum of two years school-based experience working with students with social-emotional disabilities and behavior challenges, preferably at the high school level.
  • Experience in alternative educational environments preferred.
  • Experience teaching high school level curriculum preferred.
  • Administrative/supervisory experience in an educational setting required.

This is a year round position.

This position will be a part of the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
