The Prince George’s County Health Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Program Manager, (Community Developer 4G) grade G27 position, in the Local Behavioral Health Authority Division.
About the Position
This position is a senior level community liaison for the Local Behavioral Health Authority (LBHA), educating the public on behavioral health resources, establishing partnerships and facilitating collaboration between providers and community organizations. Convenes inter and intra agency efforts involving services for the lifespan and as a lead liaison and/or support staff to committees, task forces and workgroups addressing mental health and substance use disorder issues.

The PGCHD works to protect and support the public’s health through numerous services that range from restaurant inspections and disease tracking to care coordination and health promotion. The department is composed of four divisions: Behavioral Health Services, Environmental Health and Disease Control, Family Health Services, and Health and Wellness, supported by the Office of Administration, Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Health Officer. The mandate of the department has been, and will remain, broad. This plan emphasizes improving core functions and operations, including protecting the public from health threats, implementing strategies to support healthy living, and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations, while developing efficient internal processes to support these activities.
Position Duties
Full performance supervisory level community developer IV work provides leadership, oversight and coordination of a grant funded program. Links consumers and families to community-based resources and services when appropriate. Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to cultural values of individuals, staff, and the community. Convenes intra and inter agency meetings. Organize and participate in community outreach events which educate the public on Behavioral Health resources. Maintains Advisory Committee and Steering Committee files and mailing lists. Completes and distributes minutes, arranges speakers and meeting room accommodations. Assists in the preparation of proposals, Expressions of Interests, and Requests for Applications.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in business or public administration, social services, sociology, psychology, or other field(s).
Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional technical, analytical and developmental work experience with at least one (1) year in a lead/supervisory role.
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.
Please note there is no equivalency for supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of community development supervisory work.
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint.
- Experience working within the Behavioral Health Industry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
