Position Summary

Charlotte Behavioral Health Care (CBHC) is seeking a Veterans Court Peer Specialist to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting veterans enrolled in Veterans Treatment Court, using lived experience in recovery and military service to foster trust, hope, and accountability. The Peer Specialist provides individualized support, connects participants with community resources, and collaborates closely with the Treatment Court Team to promote recovery, stability, and program success.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior military service in the U.S. Armed Forces (Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard) with an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge, and current status as a Veteran, required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with individuals in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) or Mental Health (MH).
  • Must meet Florida Certification Board (FCB) requirements for Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS):
    • Lived experience in recovery from substance use and/or mental health challenges.
    • Minimum of two (2) years in continuous recovery.  
  • Ability to pass a level II Background clearance and drug test.
  • Valid FL drivers’ license, insurance, and safe driving record.
  • Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.).
