Summary: Trailer Repair Mechanics are charged with repairing containers, trailers, and chassis. Repair & replacement work includes but is not limited to, containers, lights, tires, landing legs, brakes, and framework.

Responsibilities:
- The ability to diagnose failures and make repairs on mechanical, electrical, or other various systems on various trailer types (e.g., flatbed, reefer, dry van)
- Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting trailer issues
- Suspension repair
- Tank service and repair
- Knowledge of air brake systems and repairs
- Conducts routine/scheduled maintenance on railroad leased/owned containers and chassis
- Repairs equipment in accordance with railroad, IEP, manufacturer & FMCSA guidelines
- Documents repairs according to an established reporting system, verbally and in writing
- Repairs tires, brakes, lights, landing leg and framework
- Skillful use of hand tools and power tools
Safety knowledge:
· Understanding proper safety procedures when working on trailers
· Familiarity with DOT regulations related to trailer maintenance
Other Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 1-year of mechanical experience
- Trailer Mechanic must have basic set of hand tools
- Must comply with established safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment
Physical abilities:
- Must comply with established safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
- Physical strength to lift heavy parts and components
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Dexterity for precise work on small parts
- Frequent standing, walking, balancing while walking on elevated catwalks, bending, and grasping.
- Must be able to fit through a tank trailer manhole
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
