 JOB TITLE:  Preventative Maintenance Technician 
  
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Coordinator of Facilities Maintenance 
  
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
   
To perform, conduct, complete thorough preventative maintenance on all heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the facilities owned by Henry Count Public Schools. 
  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   
  
- Inspection, testing, cleaning and minor repair and/or adjustment of all types of HVAC equipment
 
- Visual and auditory inspections of equipment to assess function, including contactor pitting inspections, ampere monitoring and voltage inspections, equipment and bearing temperature inspections, pulley inspections, shaft end-play and shaft deflection inspections, etc.
 
- Perform standard preventative maintenance tasks of various pieces of equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s standards, including filter changes, lubrication of bearings and related, inspect/tighten electrical connections, checking refrigerant pressures.
 
- Complete minor equipment adjustments and repair, including but not limited to belt replacement/adjustment, alignment and set screw adjustment, chilled water and heating coil cleaning, evaporator and condensing coil cleaning on equipment, maintain and treat condensate pans
 
- Identify, evaluate and make recommendations related to equipment condition in order to prevent and/or minimize equipment failures and down time.
 
- Complete preventative maintenance forms as provided and prepare reports.
 
- Conduct roof inspections
 
- Conduct routine maintenance on small engine devices.
 
- Assist on special projects as may be identified by the Facilities Coordinator
 
- Performs related tasks as required; including but not limited to assisting with any facilities maintenance trades as required
 
- Comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies and established work practices
 
 
  
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
 
- Must have ability to follow oral and written instructions
 
- EPA refrigerant handling certification preferred but no required.
 
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
