Position Summary:
The STEM Teacher will motivate and engage students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through creative, experiential learning opportunities. This educator will design and deliver integrated, interdisciplinary lessons that promote inquiry, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, while connecting content to real-world applications and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate is innovative, collaborative, and dedicated to preparing students for success in future STEM careers and lifelong learning.

Qualifications:

Possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license and be certified as Elementary Teacher in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1521.
A background or coursework in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics is preferred
Be able to perform essential job functions

Performance Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM subjects.
Encourage students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior while promoting respect, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, including hands-on activities, technology, robotics, coding, and engineering design challenges, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of individual students or groups.
Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, with a focus on integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in an interdisciplinary manner.
Continuously improve teaching practice by incorporating the most current and effective STEM teaching strategies and emerging technologies.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, especially when using specialized STEM tools and technology.
Evaluate student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, using data to adjust instruction and support differentiated learning.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
Make provision to be available to students and families for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
Collaborate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods, particularly to design interdisciplinary STEM lessons and cross-curricular projects.
Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their families concerning both academic and behavioral progress, emphasizing STEM learning experiences and opportunities.
Establish and maintain cooperative relations with colleagues, students, families, and community partners to enhance STEM education and enrichment programs.
Participate in professional growth activities and professional learning communities focused on STEM education and instructional innovation.
Support and contribute to school-wide STEM initiatives, competitions, clubs, and events.
Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year follow the current salary schedule and Collective Bargaining Agreement. The position is for a ten-month teaching assignment.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits align with qualifications and experience as per the Milford School District Board of Education Policy.
