We are looking for an Early Years Educator Apprentice to join our team.



Apprenticeship Summary:

  • Salary: £7.55 an hour
  • Working Week: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm including a 1 hour break
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors 
  • Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship standard qualification 
  • Location: Lordship Lane Primary School, Ellenborough Road, Woodgreen, London, N22 5PS



The Role:

This role will involve supporting teaching and learning within the Nursery and Reception classes. You will play a key part in helping teachers deliver high-quality classroom experiences and in supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. We are looking for someone who is dedicated to providing the best opportunities for our enthusiastic, yet sometimes challenging, group of learners, ensuring that every child is encouraged and supported to achieve their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support pupils with EHCPs and challenging behaviour in class
  • Plan and run school supported interventions with individuals or groups.
  • Adapt support according to individual needs.
  • Look after children's physical, social and emotional welfare.
  • Create a stimulating environment.
  • Keep records and attend review meetings.
  • Work with professionals such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment and follow safeguarding procedures.
  • Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils.
  • Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
  • Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement.
  • Support with planning, preparation and resourcing for lessons.
  • To support the pastoral team with wellbeing and behaviour.
  • Attend school training sessions and take ownership of professional development.
  • To cover for any absent teaching assistant colleagues and undertake any duties assigned by SLT consistent with the aims of the post.
  • To help maintain a high quality learning environment
  • To supervise lunch and play with pupils if needed, ensuring a high standard of behaviour at all times
  • To manage and treat basic first aid to pupils in line with school procedures.



The Candidate:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with students who have special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive in supporting adaptations within the learning environment.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills.
  • Exceptional communication and engagement skills.



Training and Development:

As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:

  • Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 Early Years Educator Diploma.
  • On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
  • Regular review meetings to track progress and development.
