A Day in the Life
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Employee & Labor Relations to lead and shape our people practices across the EMEA region. This role is pivotal in fostering a fair, inclusive, and legally compliant workplace, while supporting our business goals through proactive employee relations strategies.
You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, HR partners, and legal teams, ensuring consistent and culturally sensitive approaches to labor relations across diverse jurisdictions.
Reporting to a Vice President HR, you'll deliver strategic partnership and practical support to our business across the region.
Role is based in in Western or Central Europe

As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care. Our HR team will play a pivotal role in the journey to become a standalone company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional employee and labor relations strategies aligned with global HR policies and local legislation.
- Lead complex investigations, grievance procedures, and conflict resolution efforts with discretion and integrity.
- Partner with legal counsel and HR teams to manage collective bargaining agreements, union relationships, and works council engagements.
- Monitor and interpret labor law developments across EMEA, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
- Provide coaching and training to HR and management on employee relations best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement in workplace culture, employee engagement, and policy adherence.
- Lead crisis response and change management initiatives related to workforce transitions, reorganizations, or disputes.
- Design and deliver training programs for HR and management on employee relations, conflict resolution, and compliance
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in employee and labor relations, with a strong track record in the EMEA region.
- Deep knowledge of employment laws and labor practices across multiple EMEA countries.
- Proven success in union negotiations, works council engagement, and managing complex employee relations cases. Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage sensitive issues with professionalism.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
