SUMMARY:
National Heritage Academies (NHA) is seeking a Senior OnBase Engineer to lead the design, configuration, integration, and reliability of our Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform built on Hyland OnBase. This role owns the WorkView and Workflow solutions, integrations (Unity API/REST, SSO), platform administration, and continuous improvement initiatives. While direct OnBase experience is highly valued, we also welcome senior systems/software engineers with an application configuration background with a proven ability to learn and be certified on OnBase. This position is based at our Grand Rapids headquarters (onsite 4 days/week) and requires close collaboration with business partners, customers, and IT teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Platform Ownership (OnBase): Administer, configure, and enhance OnBase including document types, keywords, security/retention, and environment promotion across dev/test/prod.
WorkView & Workflow Delivery: Design data models, lifecycles, queues, rules, timers, and UX; implement error handling, performance tuning, and best-practice patterns.
Integrations & Automation: Build and harden integrations using Unity API/REST, webhooks/queues, and iPaaS patterns; implement idempotency, retries, and monitoring.
Upgrades & Reliability: Plan and execute upgrades/patching; maintain logging, metrics, backups/DR, and capacity/performance baselines.
Secure by Design: Implement least-privilege roles, audit and retention policies, and compliance controls (e.g., FERPA/PII).
Engineering Enablement: Produce design docs, test plans, deployment runbooks, and user-facing guides; mentor peers on configuration-over-code practices.
Customer Partnership: Facilitate discovery, prioritize backlogs, and communicate status/risks; collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes.
Operational Excellence: Triage and resolve incidents/problems; drive root-cause analysis, preventive actions, and quality assurance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
EITHER 4+ years delivering OnBase solutions (WorkView + Workflow) OR 6+ years as a senior systems/software engineer building and integrating COTS/enterprise platforms with a configuration-first approach.
Proficiency with HTML, C#/.NET (or Java), SQL Server, and RESTful APIs; familiarity with Windows Server/IIS and source control/CI/CD.
Experience with identity/SAML/OIDC (e.g., Okta/Azure AD) and secure secrets/config management.
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills with clear written and verbal communication.
Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, testable designs and to coordinate promotion across environments.
Preferred:
Hyland University coursework or certifications (OCSA, OCWA; WorkView/Workflow).
Hands-on Unity API scripting; Document Composition/Forms; Scan/OCR; RPA connectors.
Experience with OnBase API, C#, VBScript, and/or PowerShell scripting
Prior experience in education, public sector, or other regulated environments.
Consulting/customer-facing solution delivery.
This is an in-person position at our NHA Service Center located at 3850 Broadmoor Ave., Grand Rapids, MI.
