Info Technology Engineer IJob Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Participates in design and development of facilities to extend and enhance the IT Infrastructure of the enterprise, while serving as apprentice to senior technology staff. Functions as part of a project team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs assigned tasks associated with the design, planning, and building of additions to the infrastructure that match the functional, performance, and growth requirements of the business units, including coding, hardware/software installations, preparation of technical diagrams and descriptions or working session minutes.
- Assists in the testing and evaluations of new software and hardware products, and develops documents summarizing results and recommendations.
- Participates in planning efforts by support groups for actual rollout of specific technology.
- Assesses components of current infrastructure and recommends replacement where appropriate.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Works with telecommunications carriers for troubleshooting of voice and data digital and analog circuits. SIP, T1 & PRI implementations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts used in all telecommunication systems
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems or related area preferred. Minimum of two years of course work plus experience is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum one to two years experience in Information Systems. In-depth technical knowledge with significant support experience in one or more of the following technical domains: Data Network, Voice Network, Workstation, Host/Server, Data Storage, Database and Security.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Participates in special projects as required.
Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately.
Service awareness of all organization’s key IT services for which support is being provided.
Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services. Have knowledge of tools, equipment and materials common to voice and data systems.
