Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., is the nation’s leading manufacturer of Ductile Iron Waterworks Fittings and Appurtenances has an immediate opening for a Melt Supervisor for its Anniston facility. Tyler Union's main manufacturing facility is located in Anniston, AL.
Supervisor is responsible for the safety, environment, production, and quality of assigned departments(s). Position supervise and coordinate all departmental activities and Proactively promotes The McWane Way principals, values, and behaviors and lives the Compass Culture.

Job Description:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following:
- Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Always adhere to Company safety rules and regulations and work safely.
- Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors and lives the Compass Culture.
- Responsible for producing quality iron for use in all product mixes produced in the Foundry while being accountable for maintaining the lowest cost while producing iron to acceptable specifications.
- Responsible for supervision of personnel engaged in producing high strength cast iron.
- Inspects, analyze and control quality of iron by coordinating efforts with other technical services in running a variety of tests on iron before uses in the production process
- Responsible for monitoring a minimum of four (4) touch screen computers to adjust and or regulate the chemistry analysis of raw material to keep the chemistry within specification
- Verifies and approves the quality of iron prior to releasing it for production.
- Taps out Cupola on start-up and oversees dropping of Cupola bottom during shutdowns.
- Planning, establishing priorities, scheduling production, and coordinating efforts to assure a safe, efficient, and economical production flow.
- Coordination with Maintenance personnel in inspecting and repairing equipment and machinery.
- Recommend and assist in changing melting methods and processes
- Completing required record keeping, work schedules and other administrative paperwork pertaining to the Melt department.
- Responsible for supervisor or Ladle Lining personnel. Ensure adequate repairs are made and ladles are prepared in accordance with production requirements
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as required
- Confer and collaborate with other supervisors and manages to ensure seamless communication and effective transition of products and activities.
- Confer with management or human resources to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate team members and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and efficiency.
- Monitor electronic time and attendance schedules for assigned team members and their clocking in and out.
- Observe team member behavior, research actions, document and recommend discipline for actions inconsistent with General Company Rules and standard business practices.
- Issue disciplines within established time periods.
- May be required to work any shift.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Listen to team members’ professional needs while coaching and empowering staff to optimize and elevate their competencies.
- Proactively address potential issues and work to quickly resolve any complaints or concerns.
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate the team to achieve work goals.
- Maintain and approve team member time records (schedule, vacation, and attendance, etc.).
- Read and interpret documents such as, safety, rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Use basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university preferred.
- Three (3) of manufacturing experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials.
Must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment varies from a typical office setting to a plant environment that may be hot, cold, dusty, and noisy. It is a requirement to be in and out of the plant on a regular basis.
