Job Summary
This position is located in our Educator Preparation and Development Department, and reports to the Director, Career Pathways. The Apprenticeships Manager is responsible for researching, creating, and implementing Early Care and Education apprenticeship programs in Alameda County.
Required Documents
TYPICAL DUTIES: Research and study existing Early Care and Education and Paraeducator apprenticeship programs to design ACOE’s apprenticeship programs in collaboration with partnering districts and organizations. Establish and maintain partnerships with districts, schools, community college partners, CBO partners, and intermediary apprenticeship sponsor. Develop and implement recruitment strategies to enroll high school students and incumbent Early Care and Education employees interested in pursuing careers in early care and education into the apprenticeship program. Facilitate high school dual enrollment that results in industry recognized permits and workforce opportunities. Support apprentices in navigating related instruction successfully, including providing high touch support for issues related to persistence, including building tutoring systems and providing personalized case management support.

THE POSITION: The Early Care and Education Apprenticeships Manager is responsible for researching, creating, and implementing Early Care and Education apprenticeship programs in Alameda County. The Early Care and Education Apprenticeships Program Manager will develop youth and adult apprenticeship systems for Alameda County districts in order to serve workforce development efforts for the Early Care and Education mixed delivery system. The Early Care and Education Apprenticeships Program Manager provides leadership and mentorship to Early Care and Education Apprentices and mentors, and contributes to the development and implementation of the on-the-job training and related supplemental instruction for apprentices. The Early Care and Education Apprenticeships Program Manager will collaborate with district and community college faculty, mentors, staff and apprentices in the program design, development and implementation of youth and adult apprenticeships. This position manages program design and operations responsive to non-traditional college students, and first-generation college students. This job reports to the assigned administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in related area preferred. Experience: At least 5 years of progressive work experience that includes any aspect of workforce development OR three years of leadership experience in any aspect of workforce development required. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
