Preschool Instructor position is an intermittent part-time position not to exceed 69 hours per month. Hours for prep time to be negotiated. Hours of work are based upon preschool enrollment and are not guaranteed. Wage is $20/hour.
The Preschool Program is a monthly program at the Olympia Center’s preschool room sponsored by the City of Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation Department. The program runs Monday/Wednesday & Tuesday/Thursday from 9:30am-12pm and can accommodate up to 8 children per class.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and lead monthly themed preschool classes for 3-5 year olds.
  • Provide a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Provide quality care for up to 8 children.
  • Support children in intellectual growth, socialization skills and motor skill development.
  • Maintain and update children’s records.
  • Communicate with children’s guardians regarding allergies and special concerns.
  • Report ongoing needs and concerns of preschool program to class supervisor.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures for preschool program and The Olympia Center.

Requirements:

  • 2 years experience or training in early childhood education and development preferred
  • Current first aid and infant/child CPR certification
  • Knowledge of child development issues and age-appropriate activities
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, esp. 3-5 year olds and their guardians
  • Conflict resolution skills
