You Will Be Responsible For:
Job Summary:
The Director is responsible for completion of corporate compliance, corporate responsibility and privacy audits in addition to financial and operational audits, and performs other routine duties and special audits and investigations. The Director assists Senior Hospital management by providing independent appraisals, analysis, recommendations and pertinent comments. In addition to performing audits and investigations for AdventHealth, the Director will conduct/supervise/assist in compliance, corporate responsibility and privacy audits at AdventHealth Waterman, Centra Care, AHMG, and other ancillary businesses as required by the Adventist Health System (AHS), senior management, and the AH Corporate Responsibility Officer. The Director is responsible for the completion of the annual Monitoring and Auditing Plan (M&A Plan) prepared by the AHS Corporate Responsibility Department. The Director completes requirements in the M&A Plan by conducting/supervising audits performed by Corporate Responsibility Department staff and/or working with other Hospital Directors, Senior Executives and Medical Staff to obtain their assistance in performing required monitoring and auditing steps. The Director will offer input to improve the annual M&A Plan. The Director will perform risk analysis in the compliance and privacy areas and determine if additional audit procedures are necessary to assure senior management that controls and procedures are functioning as intended. The Director is responsible for suggesting changes to Hospital policies and procedures to improve the control environment and reduce the risk of compliance failures and privacy violations. The Director is responsible for supervising and training the AH Corporate Responsibility Department audit staff. Additionally, the Director is responsible for determining that policies and procedures adequately safeguard Hospital assets and contribute to achieving the missions and goals of the Hospital as well as meet the requirements of DNV and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies including Medicare, Medicaid, and the OIG. The Director is conversant on generally accepted accounting principles, generally accepted auditing standards, other financial pronouncements, EMTALA, 340B Drug program requirements, and HIPAA laws and regulations. The Director actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Responsible for implementation of the compliance auditing and monitoring program for the various facilities and business lines within the assigned Region. Job responsibilities include audit planning and implementation of compliance auditing and monitoring activities. Ability to understand the healthcare regulatory environment to identify key risk and audit areas. [Required]
Ability to translate healthcare regulatory environment, requirements, etc. into comprehensive audit plans and tools for audit completion and reporting. [Required] • Familiarity and experience with electronic medical record (EMR) and billing systems and reporting. [Required] • Ability to use data analytics to facilitate compliance and auditing and monitoring activities and reporting. [Required]
Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) with senior leadership and all other levels of personnel throughout the organization.[Required]
Ability to understand key areas that interact with Compliance, including revenue cycle, billing and coding, and physician compensation practices. [Required]
Diplomacy, tact, and calm in difficult situations and emotional intelligence to understand direct and indirect interpersonal dynamics to promote optimal outcomes in problem solving and issue management. Maintains composure in difficult conversations (in person and via email). Ability to frame compliance requirements in a manner that promotes understanding and acceptance focusing on the value of compliance as a strategic benefit. [Required]

What You Will Need:
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor degree in accounting, business, health care administration or related field
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Field of Study: • Bachelor's in Accounting/Audit, Business or Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Law or other healthcare related field Work Experience:
5+ years healthcare compliance audit experience at a management level. [Required]
Experience in hospital compliance and/or physician practice/medical group compliance, coding and/or operations and/or post-acute compliance, depending on assigned Division. [Required]
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Preferred:
Certified in Healthcare Compliance
Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance
Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional
