About the Department
Assist Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) group with troubleshooting issues that may arise within the fiber optic network. Coordinates with different contractors making sure they are adhering to HCTRA fiber optic specs and standards. Oversees and inspects the repair or new installation of ITS components and reviews fiber testing results. Monitors the routine maintenance of HCTRA ITS assets and conducts fiber optic inspections relating to ITS maintenance, repair, and construction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for executing the duties and responsibilities listed below and other duties as assigned. Some positions may require working before, during, or after an emergency or disaster at the department's discretion.
- Monitors the routine maintenance of HCTRA ITS assets and conducts fiber optic inspections relating to ITS maintenance, repair, and construction.
- Coordinates with different contractors making sure they are adhering to HCTRA fiber optic specs and standards.
- Oversees and inspects the repair or new installation of ITS components and reviews and analyzes fiber testing results.
- Assists Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) group with troubleshooting issues that may arise within the fiber optic network.

Position Duties
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Fiber Optic Technician Certification
- Four (4) years' fiber-related field experience
- A valid Texas driver's license and good driving record
Good communication skills.
Ability to provide a consistent and on-time work product.
Ability to interact and provide direction to contractors.
Ability to read and understand design plans.
Physical Demands:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, an/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Minimum Qualifications
Position Type and Typical Hours Work:
Typical workdays, Monday - Friday.
Must be available for shift work, including weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:
Office environment, outdoor environment, exposure to inclement weather or various temperature changes, possible exposure to loud noises in the environment, possible exposure to dangerous chemicals.
