- Responds to request for medical information from patients, extended families, insurance companies, attorneys, court orders/subpoenas, physicians and/or their office staff, other health care facilities, government, regulatory bodies, and other third parties.
- Invoice for appropriate requestors and follows up on payments.
- Assures receipt of a HIPAA-compliant authorization and/or request.
- Collaborate with transcription support, legal staff, Patient Access and Privacy Officer to investigate and resolve issues related to documents, MPI, and other HIPAA requests such as accounting for disclosures.
- Confirm receipt of valid authorization for electronic exchange and indicate compliance within the electronic health record.
- Monitor and/or marks for correction scanned document errors
- Promptly answers office phone calls or assists with phone coverage.
- Use telephone etiquette consistent with UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors.
- Respond to and fulfill patient walk-in record requests as required.
- Responsible for handling and/or scanning documentation received through mail or fax as needed.
- Ability to access and retrieve patient information from various computer systems and various types of media.
- Clean copier/fax machines and ensure they are in proper working order and place service calls as appropriate.

Salary Range:The compensation range for this position is $16.03per hour - $25.97per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
