Bank of Marin, voted by our employees as one of the “Best Places to Work” in the North Bay Business Journal, is seeking a Title and Escrow Coordinator to join our Credit Risk Management team located at either our corporate office in Novato, California or office in Rancho Cordova, California.
The Title and Escrow Coordinator is responsible for the ordering of third-party reports (flood, environmental, title) and for coordinating loan closings for commercial real estate loans. They work primarily on renewal and less complex credits.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work directly with title and escrow companies to open escrows and order preliminary title reports.
- With oversight of a Senior Title & Escrow Coordinator, review title reports for accuracy (including review of vesting, legal descriptions, exception items) and make recommendations for changes as appropriate.
- Order flood determination notices and environmental reports for commercial real estate loans. With oversight of a Senior Title & Escrow Coordinator, review flood determination notices and environmental reports and make recommendations for further action as appropriate.
- Review required evidence of insurance for commercial real estate loans. Approve acceptance of required evidence of insurance that falls within the Bank’s guidelines and seek higher approval for evidence insurance that falls outside of the Bank’s guideline.
- With oversight of a Senior Title & Escrow Coordinator, prepare escrow closing instructions for commercial real estate loans, including noting exceptions that the Bank will accept as prior liens. Send approved escrow closing instructions to escrow.
- Review loan documents for accuracy and to ensure consistency with the credit approval terms. Inform Loan Officer of any inaccuracies. After verifying accuracy of loan documents, send loan documents to escrow for signing.
- Receive signed loan documents from escrow and review to ensure that all documents have been properly signed, initialed, and/or notarized. Coordinate correction of missing signatures, initials, and/or notarizations.
- Ensure that all “Subject To” requirements have been satisfied or ensure that appropriate approvals or waivers have been obtained.
- Prepare signed loan documents for funding, including preparing a reconciliation of fees and disbursement from loan proceeds. Provide completed funding package to Loan Operations for boarding.
- Follow for receipt of title insurance policies. Review title insurance policies to ensure that the final policy matches the requested coverage, including legal description of the collateral, endorsements, and exception items.
Professional and Educational Experience:
- 2 - 4 years related experience and/or training.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or training.
The hourly hiring pay range for this position is $29.08 to $41.31. In addition to the pay range listed, all bank positions are eligible for incentive compensation, which varies based on role. The pay rate for a successful applicant depends on a variety of factors including but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
