QUALIFICATIONS

Required:  Knowledgeable in the use of data bases, word processing, and spreadsheets, and common office equipment. 

Preferred:  Phlebotomy skills, medical terminology, word processing, strong customer service skills

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Light physical and moderate cognitive demands.  Able to sit for 2 -3 hours at a time; able to bend and reach intermittently.  Able to work with time constraints, manage multiple tasks, and handle frequent interruptions.  Able to prioritize and organize work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Job Specifics: Communicates clearly to callers by answering questions, directing calls and screening calls.  Maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Maintains orders as needed, entering phone/fax orders into the LIS. Scanning paperwork into patient electronic chart. Operates all office equipment including phones, fax, copier, scanner etc. File, mail and address physician result reports. File and send results to specific departments. Maintains laboratory files, phone lists. Fix issues that populate to laboratory workques including registration issues.
  • Promotes Patient Safety Goals: All employees are responsible for patient safety. Understand the importance of reporting errors and near misses to protect and improve patient care. Follows established Red Rules for patient identification, specimen collection and labeling.
