Course Description
This course will focus on the process of learning, and then applying, the various methodologies of digital scholarship, with an emphasis on the humanities/social sciences. The course readings, workshops, and discussions will be aimed at exposing students to the (sometime competing) philosophies and the (quickly evolving) practices of this emerging field. Beyond course readings on designing, interpreting, and understanding digital media, students will also critically engage with and use a range of digital tools and resources. In the spirit of "crowd sourcing" and the public-spirited nature of digital scholarship, students will take on the responsibility of teaching each other about digital tools over the course of the semester. Students will also be required to propose, design, and implement a project using the methods and theories of digital scholarship.
