Definition: Under close supervision, to assist in the learning and enrichment experiences for pre-school age children; to perform routine instructional and housekeeping functions; implement performing standards as required by federal regulations and to perform related work as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Qualifying applicant must have a minimum of (1) a California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit and (2) be enrolled in a program leading to an associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a related field. Assistant teachers that already hold an associate’s degree or higher do not have to continue enrolling in courses, however do have to have a yearly individual professional development plan. (Must be submitted with application).
• Experience caring for or providing recreational or educational activities for children.
• Must successfully pass the application screening phase
• Must successfully pass the Garvey School District Written Test
• Completion of a Criminal Records Check will be required prior to beginning work.
• Completion of a Certificate or Medical Examination that includes screening for Tuberculosis
Desirable: Bilingual in English and in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese.
TESTING
Applicants who pass the application screening process will be notified and scheduled for a Written Test. Written test will be waived if you currently hold a CBEST, Associate's or Bachelor's degree. Proof of these documents must be submitted with application.
