General Definition of Work

The Adobe Visual & Video Design Teacher provides rigorous, hands-on instruction in digital media production, focusing on Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier Pro. This position prepares students for Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) credentials and future careers in graphic design, multimedia communication, and video production. Instruction aligns with the North Carolina CTE Adobe Academy Pathway and integrates creativity, technology, and career readiness.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Education, Marketing Education, Information Technology, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for or currently holds a North Carolina Professional Educator License in one of the following areas:
    • 760 - Business and Information Technology Education 
    • 765 - Computer Science and IT Education 
    • 74098 - Digital Media
    • 730 - Marketing Education
    • 820 - Technology Engineering Design Education 
    • 740 - Trade and Industrial Education
  • Candidates with industry experience and Adobe credentials may qualify for a CTE Restricted License under NCDPI policy.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Adobe Certified Professional credentials in one or more applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Prior experience teaching or training in digital media, design, or visual communication.
  • Experience integrating project-based learning and industry partnerships into classroom instruction.
  • Strong understanding of design composition, video editing, color theory, and visual communication.

Essential Functions

Plan, deliver, and assess standards-aligned instruction in Adobe Visual Design (Photoshop and Illustrator) and Adobe Video Design (Premiere Pro).

  • Plan, deliver, and assess standards-aligned instruction in Adobe Visual Design (Photoshop and Illustrator) and Adobe Video Design (Premiere Pro).

  • Prepare students for Adobe Certified Professional exams and document credential attainment.
  • Teach students to apply principles of graphic design, layout, typography, branding, and digital storytelling to create real-world design and video projects.
  • Provide opportunities for work-based learning, including client-style projects, collaborations with school or community partners, and guest speakers from creative industries.
  • Incorporate digital citizenship, copyright, and ethical media use into daily instruction.
  • Utilize NC CTE resources to deliver instruction and track progress.
  • Participate in CTE professional development and maintain proficiency in Adobe applications. 
  • Ability to design engaging, technology-rich lessons that connect to real-world applications.
