Financial Applications Director

POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Arlington-VA (hybrid), Bogota-Colombia (hybrid) or Brazil (fully remote)

This position is responsible for the administration of CI’s financial accounting systems: Unit4 Business World and Concur. The Financial Applications Director ensures optimal use of these systems and their related applications and plays a leading role in the integration of these systems with other CI databases relating to financial data and processes. This role also provides training to users, maintains security, and troubleshoots application issues for both US and field-based staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Systems Support

Responsible for all aspects of end-user support for financial systems. This includes the following:

  • Hands-on resolution of tickets, including documentation in the ticketing system and communication with affected staff and IT stakeholders.
  • Communication with software vendors for issues that cannot be resolved internally.
  • Management of other support staff and coordination with business process owners and other team members as needed to resolve tickets.
  • Oversee creation, maintenance, and termination of user accounts in financial systems. Conduct periodic security audits as required.
  • Create and manage complex workflow processes for appropriate systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Design special-purpose reports and processes utilizing SQL Server, Business World reporting tools, or other tools as required for audits or other management uses. This includes Business World AG16’s (SQL-based customizations). Manage design, test, and maintain custom reports and forms in Business World using ARC (Agresso Report Creator). This includes complex reports such as the check and the purchase order form.
  • Create and maintain security roles for both menu and reporting (data) access.

System Maintenance, Enhancements, and Vendor Management

  • Ensure financial systems are up to date and used to maximum effect:
  • Lead or participate in identifying system improvements, modifications, and enhancements that will streamline processes, increase efficiency, and provide needed functionality.
  • Develop and maintain interfaces to other systems as needed.
  • Serve as the Business World applications ‘go-to’ person by researching software functionality, staying current on technology changes, and advising on best practices.
  • Test patches to ensure that they resolve issues as intended. Work with systems software vendors and CI’s IT department to facilitate the migration of patches to production that have passed testing. Create/maintain system configuration as needed to ensure optimal processing.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with financial systems, software, and service vendors to ensure strong working relationships, maximized levels of support, and efficient use of CI’s resources.

Documentation and Training

  • Develop and maintain financial systems SharePoint resource site(s) with relevant help materials for end users.
  • Draft and update financial systems user and administrative procedures as needed.
  • Conduct training for end users as required.

Project Management/Change Management

  • Manage financial systems team meetings. Coordinate with business process owners, super users, and other team members as needed to ensure good communication on all financial system-related issues.
  • Manage the change management system to ensure all changes to production financial systems are properly documented, approved, tested, and implemented.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 7 or more years of related experience.
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Applications, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Contract Accounting, Operating Budget, Project Management, and Procurement modules.
  • Solid working knowledge of database architecture and management
  • SQL Server and Visual Basic experience
  • Experience with ERP reporting tools
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively with functional teams across the organization.
  • Understanding of accounting processes and standards.
  • Experience in training on software applications.

     

Preferred

  • Administrator experience using Unit4 Business World
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and/or French
