Position Summary

We are hiring a Photolithography EUV Scanner Team Manager at Samsung Austin Semiconductor to lead a critical team responsible for advanced technology node transfer and EUV equipment operations. With 15+ years of semiconductor experience and at least 5 years directly on EUV scanners, you will oversee a team of 5-10 individual contributors. Your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of equipment management, including installation and qualification, tactical problem-solving using structured methods like 5 Whys and Fishbone, and operational leadership during weekend shifts. You will manage your team's schedules, development, and performance while innovating new systems to improve safety, cost, output, and quality. This is a hands-on role that requires both strong technical expertise and people management skills in a fast-paced, high-tech cleanroom environment.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Next generation advanced technology node transfer including ASML EUV scanner and associated auxiliary equipment installation, qualification and recipe transfer.

  • Attending and contributing in daily tactical meetings with Photo leadership, as well as external teams about photolithography scanner equipment.  Leading daily and weekly meetings with your team.

  • Provide Weekend Leadership coverage as needed (~ 1 per month).  This will require you to act as Equipment Operations manager for the day.  You will be required to make tactical decisions based on your assessment of the daily operations environment in order to successfully achieve KPI.

  •  Communicate your team’s challenges effectively to influence and ensure assigned scanner equipment gets proper fiscal, technical, and operational support to achieve company goals.

  •  Prioritize and delegate the scanner team’s work in alignment with the photo department’s level priorities, and your part in achieving company goals. 

  • Innovate & implement new techniques and systems, to improve assigned metrics: safety, cost, wafer outputs, equipment availability, equipment efficiency, product defectivity, overall tool quality, and other metrics assigned.

  • Coordinate Samsung internal, external and multiple vendor resources to provide optimum manufacturing support on assigned equipment. Including equipment installation, maintenance activities and atypical tool recovery efforts.

  • Responsible for the management of team members of 5 to 10 individual contributors including:

  • Determine work schedules to achieve team objectives. Paid time off approvals, time card approvals, weekend and nights coverage assignments and requirements. Executing Short-term schedule rearrangement to support priority projects.

  • Developing strategy for direct reports to ensure individuals contribute to department success with highest product quality.

  • Develop and train team members to become well-rounded equipment engineers integral to daily operations and long-term career path and growth.

  • Assessment of performance on assigned work, regular feedback/coaching on expectations and recognition/recommendations for awards for members of your team

  • Mid-year and Annual appraisal – perform assessment; determine yearly bonus and promotion recommendations; deliver mid-year and annual appraisals.

  • Complete disciplinary actions using HR guidelines and systems when required by a direct reports behavior and performance management.

  • Assist other team representatives, managers and departments when possible to help meet SAS goals

Skills and Qualifications

  • 4 years of college in related field

  • Requires 15+ years of semiconductor engineering equipment ownership or similar manufacturing bottleneck, equipment ownership experience. 5 +years EUV Scanner working experience (install + operations)

  • Problem Solving: Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Experience using KT analysis techniques, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and flow charts.

  • Judgment and Decision Making: Considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate solution for direct reports and equipment.

  • Time Management: Schedules and prioritizes time and activities to accomplish goals and meet deadlines

  • Teamwork and Communication: Works well in a team environment and effectively communicates throughout the department and organization

  • Familiarity with SPC, FMEA, FDC, yield analysis and other standard engineering and manufacturing practices.

  • Ability to deliver and present reports of a technical nature on short notice

  • Most work is performed in an office environment and 4 hours a day in the semiconductor fabrication facility where a cleanroom gown is required

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.

  • The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

The current base salary range for this role is between $98,830 and $192,710 Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
