Description
As a Safety Technician, you will be responsible for driving and ensuring safety awareness of the facilities. You will also be tasked in helping with the development, implementation, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs and policies within our manufacturing facility. Your primary focus will be on preventing accidents, injuries, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. You will collaborate with various teams to cultivate a safety-first culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote safety awareness and cultivate the company’s safety culture. Works cooperatively and harmoniously with management, supervisors, leads, co-workers, and supports all departments.
- Ensure compliance with Company and governmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, ANSI and RCRA).
- Onboards and orients all employees to the Company’s safety policies, programs and other practices.
- Interacts constantly with supervisors and team leaders to ensure an open line of communication for effective safety management and engagement of personnel.
- Conducts comprehensive on-site safety assessments as part of a constant monitoring process and ensures project teams make all necessary corrections.
- Develops and provides effective safety training for all employees.
- Completes accident investigations, as needed; and helps assist supervision with the completion of accident reports.
- In charge of the Safety Team ensuring consistent implementation of safety processes across all work locations.
- Foster a positive safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and open communication regarding safety matters. Establish and maintain safety records and documentation, including accident reports, safety training records, and safety inspection reports.
- Complete assigned safety projects and tasks independently and work well within a team environment.
- Intervene and correct hazardous acts or conditions the moment that they are identified.
- Create and implement new initiatives, programs, and policies.
- Develops and update safety manual, policies and procedures.
- Ensure that work areas are kept safe, organized, and clean.
Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 year’s experience in safety management, preferably in an industrial manufacturing setting, and a proven track record of success in developing and implementing safety programs.
- Professional Certifications: OSHA 500 and/or any recognized BCSP Certification (GSP, ASP, STS, OHST, CIT, SMS, CSP) are a plus.
- Physical stamina: The Safety Technician must be able to work in the plant and be physically capable of conducting safety inspections and audits in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and Company regulations.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and educate others; train the trainer courses are a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
