The Tax Assistant plays a pivotal role in customer interactions, focusing on coordinating inbound and outbound filing information for customer groups. They excel in building meticulous timelines for invoicing and workflow management, ensuring efficient data collection that directly impacts engagement profitability. This role is pivotal within a billable capacity, guided by an annual chargeable hour budget. The Tax Assistant operates as a crucial support to a team tax professionals, undertaking diverse tasks and projects tailored to meet customer needs and project demands.

Responsibilities

  • Playing a key role in fast-paced engagement teams around tax compliance and special projects
  • Supporting teams to ensure high-quality customer service that exceeds customer expectations
  • Holding direct customer contact and coordination of information sharing
  • Managing documentation across large customer groups
  • Uploading files to Suralink and/or customer portals
  • Importing trial balances
  • Assisting with tax notice resolution
  • Analyzing and forecasting data to anticipate teams needs around high compression times
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed updates to information pertaining to customer groups
  • Innovation for efficiency and automation
  • Other duties within the scope of the practice

Requirements

  • Tax Support Administrator (TSA) experience, required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred
  • 2+ years of recent public accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of CCH Axcess tax compliance software, a plus
  • Experience with partnership (1065) tax compliance, a plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team mentality and desire to grow
  • Ability to take initiative, be self-directed and results-oriented
  • Treats sensitive or confidential information with appropriate discretion
