We are seeking a Software Engineer with 2+ years of professional experience to join our team in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software systems. In this role, you will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from planning and coding to testing and deployment. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient software solutions that meet business and user needs.

While your primary focus will be on software development, this position offers the flexibility to explore various areas of the engineering stack based on team priorities and your individual strengths. You'll be expected to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in alignment with industry best practices and team coding standards. Collaboration will be key, as you'll partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to clarify requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.

You’ll also participate in testing efforts by writing unit and integration tests, troubleshooting bugs, and supporting software quality and performance improvements. Regular peer code reviews and contributions to the design and architecture of new systems will be part of your day-to-day work, alongside analyzing technical challenges and developing effective solutions. Staying current with new technologies, frameworks, and tools will be encouraged, as will contributing to process improvements and codebase optimization. Additionally, you'll help maintain technical documentation to support team knowledge and ongoing development efforts.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Around 2+ years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Golang, Python, or JavaScript
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), agile methodologies, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Strong analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
• This role may be required to be on-call for certain teams.

• Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) and modern software architectures such as microservices
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, automation tools, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Employees will also be eligible to receive discretionary vacation for exempt team members, paid holidays throughout the calendar year and paid sick leave.  Other compensation includes eligibility for an annual bonus and the potential for restricted stock units based on role.

Pay Range:

$75,900-$151,700

All other locations:

$63,100-$126,300

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
