Job Summary: Responsible for processing, verifying and maintaining provider credentialing and recredentialing files in accordance with regulatory, accreditation, and organization standards. Serves as a liaison between providers, office staff and internal departments to facilitate timely and accurate credentialing processes.
Location: This is a full-time, on-site position at Anderson Hospital. Remote work is not available for this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collect, review and verify provider credentials, including but limited to education, licensure, board certification, work history, and malpractice history in a timely manner.
- Monitor expiring documents to ensure up-to-date licensures, certifications, and malpractice insurance information is on file.
- Enter and update provider information into credentialing database.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential records in both electronic and paper formats.
- Serve as primary point of contact for providers regarding status and credentialing requirements.
- Assist provider in completing application and gathering necessary documentation.
- Respond promptly to all inquiries.
- Post privileges on Intranet.
- Scan and upload previous reappointments to credentialing database.
- Update call schedules and notify departments of changes in call.
- Sort and distribute mail.
- Assists in Medical Staff meeting preparation.
- Conduct affiliation verifications.
- Stocks and organizes Medical Staff Lounge.
- Process Not-on-Staff Requests.
- Provides support to Medical Staff Manager as requested.
- Communicates with internal departments regarding changes in contact/faxing preferences, etc.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of credentialing, medical staff services, or related healthcare administrative experience preferred.
Certifications:
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) from NAMSS within 4 years of hire preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of credentialing process, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements preferred.
- Proficiency with CredentialStream preferred.
- Proficiency with Meditech preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
